Wicker Park 1 : Lincoln Park 0

Published by Brent under chad, trixie, wicker park

Andy and I decided to venture into Wicker Park Tavern on North because we were attracted to the dollar burger advertisement. The environment was slightly intimidating, but the allure to investigate Wicker Park’s version of the Kinkade’s dollar burger and to try a new locale ushered me into the establishment.

We sat down and it didn’t look like anyone was serving. Out of the corner of my eye a Wicker Park alternative waitress, with alternative green-blue eye shadow, came and promptly ID’ed us; she made a joke about us looking young to lighten the mood. The bar was filled with a group of alternative Chads, a large table of people doing shots on a Thursday evening, and a random array of people seated at the bar.

We enjoyed the dollar burger that came on a white, square plate. It, well, tasted better than Kinkade’s. The burger had a slight char grilled taste to it that went well with my Pilsner beer. The server promptly asked if we wanted another beer when our current one was only 60% consumed; overall good service.

We finished our dinner, slowly sipped our beer while watching the Chicago Bear’s game on the plasma displays and then proceed to pay our tab. As we were walking out of the bar, I spotted a high school friend. We exchanged glances, greetings and then a shot of jager. A very enjoyable experience that might have us brining a few Chad and Trixie counter parts next week to see if The Tavern earns their stamp of approval.

“Lincoln Park, supposed residence of the mythical Trixie and Chad, is a popular choice of neighborhood for young professionals living in Chicago because of its proximity to downtown and the lakefront, as well as the abundant shopping, restauraunts, and bars”

Young Chad

Published by Brent under chad

The Wall Street Journal is reporting about issues associated with giving young kids in school access to a laptop. I believe it to be a good idea.

“Anne Carson, a 49-year-old parent in Glen Allen, Va., says the laptop has helped her twelve-year-old son master critical professional skills like how to compile a PowerPoint presentation. “He’s really picking up on a lot of opportunities I don’t think he would have gotten without the laptop,” she says.”

This young Chad is on his way to mastering powerfull presentation skills at a young age. He’ll be landing TITs (Trixies in Traning) in no time.

Alternamovie

Though there is like, an entire movie named after the Wicker Park neighborhood, not much of it was actually shot there.  So imagine my Armitage-esque suprise on seeing a movie shooting notice. Apparently, something is being used as a “movie location” on or around Pierce Ave/Damen Ave today… anybody know what it is?

8 Halsted

Published by Brent under cta

ctaI found myself doing some consulting at the end of the day over at Halsted/Milwaukee/North. I decided that I would go on an adventure and take the 8 Halsted back to the village.

  1. I sat across from a smelly bum with a large black bag that contained his entire life.
  2. The bus display said 55 Garfield.
  3. I was getting rained on in the bus.
  4. The bum got very nervous when two Chicago policy officers entered the bus at Halsted and North.

Oh CTA, I love you.
